Through a Project-Based Learning (PBL) approach, Urgent, Inc's K–12 students engaged in a youth-led participatory research process, selecting youth homelessness in Miami-Dade as their focus while uplifting the assets of Historic Overtown as a welcoming community rooted in friendship and belonging. Over the course of four experiential photowalks, students explored their environment as artists, historians, and advocates—learning that their perspectives hold the power to shape narratives and inspire change. Project-Based Learning This photobook is the result of a powerful Project-Based Learning (PBL) experience grounded in 21st-century skills: collaboration, connection, critical thinking, and communication. Through this process, students did not simply take photos—they built a shared vision, challenged ideas, and used their voices to explore meaningful themes rooted in real-life experiences.
